The Academy of Country Music Awards, better known as the ACM Awards, happened last night, and I think that I was in too much of a shock to come back and blog about it. So, I'm getting that done right now. First, I'll start with my favourite dresses. I have narrowed it down to five, and of course, the Young Female Country trio is included. Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Jennifer Nettles, and Jennette McCurdy.
On to the show. I would like to start off by saying that I think Reba and Blake Shelton did a great job at hosting last night's festivities. Performance wise... I wish Lady Antebellum was on stage. Carrie did a special performance of her song, "Undo It" (which just so happens to be my favourite), as well as "Walk This Way" by Aerosmith, with none other than Steven Tyler! It seemed like a really odd pairing to me, but I enjoyed it for the most part. Taylor performed an amazing rendition of "Mean" that went so well with the song... well, if you ask me anyways. Her fishtail braid to the banjo, to her microphone to the whole country feel of the performance. I just felt that it was so perfect, and I think that may be my new favourite performance by her. Miranda performed a song called, "Heart Like Mine", which I actually liked quite a lot, even though it was only my second time hearing the sound aloud. She totally rocked out, and looked stunning in that pink dress. Rihanna + Jennifer sang California King Bed, which was pretty cool. It was the night for unusual pairings, that oddly meshed well.
Miranda was racking in the awards last night, 4 to be exact. Even as a new fan, I couldn't help but feel so proud. Lady A taking Album of the Year (ugh). Don't get wrong, because I love them, but I wish Taylor had won it. But it's okay, because she ended up taking home the biggest award of the night... Entertainer of the Year. For the very first time! I think she definitely deserved that, and after all, she did get us to vote pretty hard. That alone, you could tell how bad she really wanted this award.
A great night overall,
X
