Operation: Coax Mom into buying AL concert tickets = SUCCESS
Succeeded at my mission for the week. My mom agreed to let me buy a ticket to see Avril Lavigne in the fall. Tickets go on sale to the public sale Saturday morning, $65 a pop. Although she did say that this would be the last time she would spend money on me, concert-wise. I think we both know that's not true, though. She has said this two other times before, besides I'm still waiting for Lady Gaga to come back to Toronto. But I guess it's a good thing that I'm turning 18 in a week, because maybe I could take the load off her shoulders and get a credit card. It would definitely save me from constantly bugging her to buy me things on-line.

best graduation present ever!
I honestly had the best time of my life last night. I went to see Katy Perry at the Air Canada Center as a graduation present from my mom, and it was a truly memorable experience. It's almost as if I forgot how much fun it is to be engulfed within that of a concert environment. The adrenaline is just so high, and the bass is so strong, and the screams are just out of this world. First things first, when I get there, I make a beeline for the merchandise table. Eighty five dollars later, and I've acquired: a white tour shirt, tour laminate/lanyard, and beautifully designed tour book. After going to the bathroom (the first of three times), I head off to my seat. I immediately start freaking out, because it is a lot closer than I could have imagined. It is personally a major plus to not have to rely on zoom the entire show.
Now. Onto the show itself, starting with the opening acts. Marina and the Diamonds were the first to hit the stage, and although I only knew the last two or three songs from her set, I still thoroughly enjoyed myself. I didn't stand up, but that's okay, because I was literally saving all my energy for the main event... Miss Katy Perry. There was also DJ Skeet Skeet right after, and he was actually amazing. He really got us all pumped up for Katy, with some really upbeat songs that got us up and moving, including: Party Rock Anthem (LMFAO), TiK ToK (Ke$ha), Rolling In The Deep (Adele), and more.
Brace yourself. I'm entering some TMI territory......
I don't know what it is about concerts that just put my nerves into overdrive, but I guess I just get so anxious and excited that my bladder gets worked up? This happens at every single concert I go to, and it pisses me off, because I always feel like I'm going to miss something important once I leave my seat. I almost lost my seat to some random ass couple, too, but I quickly handled that.
Finally, Katy rises from the stage and kicks off her set with Teenage Dream, and I could not have screamed louder if I tried. After that came Hummingbird Heartbeat, Waking Up In Vegas, and Ur So Gay, which is a favourite of mine despite what others think of it. Guilty pleasure, if you will. Other highlights include: the many and various costume changes, E.T. and Circle The Drain in fierce catsuit (danced my ass off), Thinking Of You (while floating over the crowd on a big ass cotton candy cloud), I Wanna Dance With Somebody (when she brought a bunch of fans on stage), Not Like The Movies (sweet performance on a pretty swing), and Who Am I Living For (because it is one of my very favourites off of the Teenage Dream record).
Would you believe that I was the only one standing up during every song? Well, at least in my section. I didn't sit down once during those two hours (I have the leg cramp to prove it), and I think Katy recognized that, because we totally shared a couple seconds of eye contact near the end of the show. Amazeballs. I laughed. I screamed (more than usual). I danced. I sang... every lyric. And on top of all that, smiled incredibly hard. The crying will probably be left for tomorrow, for reasons you will soon discover. To cut it all short, I just had a total blast. Katy is an amazing performer and I'm thrilled that I finally got to see her live. Waiting 5 months was definitely worth it, and I'm grateful for the many memories.
Until the next concert,

class of 2011
Today was such a surreal blur. I've been dreading this day for awhile now, but I’m just glad all the stress is finally behind me. High school is done, and now I can enjoy summer wholeheartedly before college in September. Good thing is, I finally got my own shiny award, and now my sister can stop saying that she’s “smarter” than me. Whatever that means.

dear john...
Very first read of the summer; "Dear John" by Nicholas Sparks. After watching the movie about a week or two ago, I was immediately inspired to read the book, and see how both the movie and novel matched up to each other. Sometimes, they are two completely different things, and luckily, a lot of times they are spot-on. Nicholas Sparks, although typical with his story lines, is a talented writer who has many books turned into memorable movies. A Walk To Remember, The Notebook, Dear John, as well as The Last Song. I find it weird that I am having more ease reading this book, compared to when I was reading TLS last winter. Either way, I'm quite enjoying myself at the moment, and the fact that I actually have time to read again. God bless the summertime!

equality for all.
It's always such an empowering feeling to experience such big changes happening around you, whether they directly concern you or not. To know that something prejudiced, something negative that was holding many people from happiness, has been turned into a major positive. Most people don't realize this, but the state of New York, has a gigantic place in my heart that cannot be filled by anything else. Although, I still have yet to step foot on to its busy sidewalks, that still does not change how I feel in the slightest. Mere hours, okay, a couple hours ago, it was announced that gay marriage would finally be legalized in the state of NY. The biggest state in the United States to approve such a law.
The Empire State building was specially lit up like a rainbow for the occasion, and this is the main discussion that I see all over my Twitter timeline, as well as my Tumblr dashboard. People are rejoicing, and for good reason. It's such a proud moment for me, one who hopes that she will become somewhat of a New Yorker in the near future. Equality is a powerful thing, and really should be something that is available to every single person on this planet. Everybody deserves to be treated fair and justly. Everyone deserves to have the same rights as their neighbour, whether that is having the ability to vote, or the ability to marry the person that they love. It really shouldn't matter whether or not that person is the same gender as you. Love is love.
This kind of a change could not have come at a better time. Our world is still plagued with other social issues, epidemics, war, etc., and I just would like to commend all the individuals that are responsible for this law being passed. I feel like history has went down tonight, and I want to remember this day for as long as possible.
June 24th, 2011 - The day that the world became a little more open minded and accepting.

i, i love you like a love song, baby
I am probably one of a select few that actually loves this video, and I mean that. Of course, I'm incredibly biased, but that's besides the point. It's colourful, unique, and Selena looks absolutely flawless. It doesn't hurt that the song is so addictive. All the haters need to sit the fuck down :)

words of wisdom... from a bear :)
"If the person you are talking to doesn't appear to be listening, be patient, it may simply be that he (or she) has a small piece of fluff in his ear."- Winnie Pooh
find me.
I'll admit that I only really know of Christina Grimmie because of Selena, and I haven't really paid her much mind before, but this morning I noticed her album on the iTunes charts, so I decided to give it a listen. It's actually really good, not gonna lie! My favourites so far are: Ugly, King of Thieves, and Liar Liar... which makes me really pumped to see her live in August :)

I don't know how to be something you miss.
I just watched the live video of "Last Kiss" from last night in Omaha, and I'm just so distraught. This is one of my very favourite Taylor songs, and I do not want to come off like I'm whining, but it really sucks that I won't be able to see it live. July is going to be a depressing month, and I guess listening to it on replay doesn't help either, but I just can't help but be irrevocably in love with this song. Who knows? Maybe things will turn to my favour, and somehow I'll end with tickets to see Taylor in July, but until then, I'll continue to dream. She inspires me to believe that anything is impossible, if you believe.

look what decided to show up........
.............. It's none other than the future highlights of my summer! After nearly a month of waiting, Ticketmaster finally printed and sent my tickets to me. Enough stressing over mail, and now I'm just happy to countdown to August :)

song review: edge of glory
Oh my goodness. Lady Gaga completely killed it on this one. The promotional (now third) single off of "Born This Way", Edge Of Glory, made its debut today. 5 minutes and 20 seconds of musical gold. At least with this single, I can honestly say that I loved it upon the very first listen. The song is pretty upbeat for a song with a sad meaning/message, but it's not at all slow. If anything, I am captivated by the simplicity, as well as the catchiness that song entails. Gaga's grandfather passed away about 6 months ago, and she wrote this song about "your last moment on Earth, the moment of truth, the moment before you leave Earth". Even though he lost his life, he actually won, and this song is a celebration of that. There is a lot of soul courtesy of Clarence Clemmons, who delivers during the nifty instrumental breakdown showcasing a bluesy saxophone solo. Vocals are absolutely through the roof, and really come through during the powerhouse of a chorus, which include some of my favourite Gaga lyrics:
I'm on the edge, of glory, and I'm hanging on a moment of truth. I'm on the edge, of glory, and hanging on a moment with you.She belted out on this track, and I was compelled to just get up, start dancing and/or proceed to fist pump. This song is going to slay when played live (hopefully I'll be able to witness it on tour). This woman can do no wrong in my book. I am sure that Gaga's grandfather would be extremely proud of both her and this tribute to him.
Plus, I don't know how many of you have noticed, but.. I really like that "Edge of Glory" begins with a heartbeat and ends with a trailing flat line. I don't know, I just found that to be a nice touch, and was quite fitting to the song. Overall, very sonically done, and I can't wait to hear "Hair" exactly one week from now.
